A proper gutter system sheds water away from your home. It aids in protecting your landscape, keeping water from turning into ice over sidewalks and driveways, and in keeping your basement dry.

A poor gutter system can have far worse consequences than no gutters at all. A clogged gutter can cause water to back up and enter the home through the roof system. When this happens, water can travel along the tops of walls until it finds a place to drain. Usually this is noticeable by water or stains in the corners where walls and ceilings meet. Over time, this water can rob your insulation of its R-value and allow mold and rot to form.

A poor gutter system will drain near the foundation, allowing water to seep through basements walls. It keeps crawl spaces damp and promotes insect infestation.

How do you know if you have a poor gutter system? Just answer yes to any of these questions.

  1. Do your gutters drip in corners or at the ends hours after it rains?

  2. Are the bottoms of the downspouts draining straight down or along the foundation wall?

  3. Are your gutters sagging or loose?

  4. Can you see growth in your gutters or downspouts?

Make sure your new gutter system:

  1. Is strong enough to handle the weight of winter ice and snow.

  2. Has enough slope to carry water to downspouts and eliminate standing water.

  3. Has an adequate number of downspouts to drain gutter.

  4. Has a proper device in place to carry water away from foundation.

  5. Includes a maintenance plan or cover to keep gutters free from twigs, leaves and other debris.

Install it only on the gutter section needed. More importantly, Leaf Relief stops leafs and debris without restricting water flow and is backed by one of the strongest warranties available from a leader in the industry
